Good Fruit Collage
Good Fruit Collage

So I was getting ready for bed one night, too geeked up with collection ideas to even think about sleeping, and I saw this painting/collage idea in my head. Being the artist that I am, I was rather annoyed that I couldn’t go downstairs and do it right that second, at nearly midnight lol😆
I used my responsible brain and went to bed, but I definitely had this collage worked out in my brain before my feet hit the floor the next day!
It’s not always that way with art though, because truly most of the time I may have an idea, but I go in really raw with my work and just see what happens, so I was kinda excited to get this one going since the idea seemed so figured about AND fun….and it was!🤗
Here’s what I did to accomplish this:
I used a big sheet of newsprint paper that you can buy in a pad at Hobby Lobby or anywhere else I’m sure.
I knew the colors I would need for the fruits that would be in the artwork, so I roughly painted sections of the paper in these color blobs all over the paper. Then I added some white swashes, and finished by splattering on some distress oxide.
Once that was dry, I used a pencil to sketch each piece of fruit in the appropriate color. It didn’t matter where it was on the page because I would be cutting them out.
Then I cut them out, and that’s when I could really see the magic happen and the idea really come to life!😍
Each piece of fruit looked soooooo cool!!! Just as I hoped, doing it this way allowed there to not be perfect filled in color and precision, but gave really neat texture and a bit of abstract nature to these fruit forms!🎨
Then I simply glued them to a piece of watercolor paper that I had already painted a light antiqued white color….lovely, lovely, lovely.
Anyway, and this is that! Hope you loved hearing about the journey of this piece of art! It was a refreshing joy to create and I can’t wait to do more in this similar style! You should try it too!❤️
I named it the “Good Fruit Collage”, just seemed fitting🍉🍊🍌
Hope you love it!!!❤️
