On The Doorpost - Deuteronomy 6

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

The scripture of all scriptures for the preaching of the gospel to our families and in our homes. What a packed scripture to remind us the importance of diligently teaching the Word of God to our children. 📖

We often make unpopular choices for our family, and for no other reason than it has to line up with our family’s mission to love Jesus more than anything else, and to speak truth and life over our kids every moment of every day. (and we still fail!)

But oh how rich are the opportunities to speak to our children all day every day, in the home, on a nature walk, in the grocery store, in the car, and at night when their little minds are spinning….to speak to them of the glories of God. To influence their little growing minds every moment we can to be bent toward the truth and knowledge of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ! 🙌🏼

What a responsibility, and what a JOY to show them the way and to help them walk in it! 👣

Children are remarkable learners, and they will inevitably learn what you teach them. YOU are their first teacher and the one they will remember the most. Your voice is the one they will think back to in good times and in bad. 😊

Point them to truth at every chance you get and marvel with them at the wonders of God, who loves them deeply and will hold their future forevermore.🤍
